Alaska Communications Systems Debuts HTC Touch; EVDO Smartphone Features Large Touch Display, Multimedia Functions

ANCHORAGE, Alaska--(Business Wire)--
Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. ("ACS") (NASDAQ:ALSK)
today announced the launch of the HTC Touch/PPC 6900 Smartphone. This
unique Windows Mobile 6.0 device features an easy-to-use touch screen
platform that allows users to navigate the world with the swipe of a
finger. Its robust 3-D interface provides one-touch access to
messages, the Internet, voice dialing, multimedia content and much
more.

ACS customers can customize their HTC Touch to access contacts,
listen to music, view photos, play games, stream video, stay on top of
news, sports and weather, or do office work anywhere. The phone is
sporty and compact with a stylish design and soft-touch finish. Other
cool features include:

-- CDMA, EVDO voice and data

   -- 2 megapixel camera

   -- Bluetooth or stereo headset

   -- Windows Live instant messaging

-- Micro SD memory card slot

-- Ability to use as a modem to connect a laptop computer to the
        Internet

"The HTC Touch's intuitive software makes it much more than a
phone. It opens up a world of media, communication and social
interaction. It's really a multimedia experience at the tip of one's
fingers," said Connie Dorman, Director of Marketing.

The HTC Touch operates on ACS' 3G CDMA network which the Company
recently optimized with EVDO Rev A, the latest evolution in Mobile
Internet. Rev A provides the fastest mobile speeds available in the
United States, and HTC Touch users will be able to upgrade their
phones to become Rev A-compatible through a free software download
later this year.

Rev A is currently available on the CDU-680 Mobile Internet Key,
and ACS has a number of other Rev A devices planned for the near
future. ACS roams on Rev A in much of Canada. In the Lower 49, ACS
expects to initiate Rev A roaming later this year.

The HTC Touch is available for $249.99 with a two-year contract
after a $100 mail-in rebate.
