Samantha Eggar and Kate Mulgrew Host ''A Day with Friends''
Pasadena Event to Benefit Alzheimer's, ALS Associations PASADENA, Calif.--(Business Wire)--After decades of award-winning performances, Samantha Eggar and Kate Mulgrew are far from calling it a day. Instead, they're calling it: "A Day with Friends." On Sunday, March 16, 2008, the two actresses will share "A Day with Friends" at the Pasadena Convention Center. Benefiting the Alzheimer's and the ALS Associations, the one-day event will include autograph and photo opportunities; a private screening of Round Numbers--the only film the two have made together--and an in-depth question-and-answer session. Since both actresses are also Star Trek veterans, a silent auction will offer Star Trek memorabilia and other items for those who dare to go where no Eggar or Mulgrew fan has ever gone before. "It's a chance to get up close and personal with two of the most respected actresses in the business," said event organizer, Emily Danyel of Los Angeles-based Tri-Booking Management. "The event is totally unscripted, so it's a one-of-a-kind opportunity to interact spontaneously with two very extraordinary artists," she added. Ms. Eggar soared to international stardom in the mid-sixties when William Wyler chose her for the female lead in the film version of John Fowles' controversial novel, The Collector. Her performance earned her an Academy Award nomination, as well as the Cannes Film Festival Award and a Golden Globe for Best Actress. She went on to star with some of Hollywood's most legendary leading men, including Cary Grant, Rex Harrison, Yul Brynner, Kirk Douglas and Sean Connery. With a career spanning over four decades, Ms. Eggar has appeared in more than 90 motion pictures, TV, stage and other multimedia productions. Ms. Mulgrew is an award-winning actress with a list of honors as diverse as her movie, TV and theatre credits. In addition to a Golden Globe nomination in 1979 for her performance in the TV series, Mrs. Columbo, she received a Drama League Award nomination in 2007 for her role in The Manhattan Theatre Club's production of Our Leading Lady. Other honors include the Carbonell Award, the Broadway.com Audience Award and an Outer Critics Circle nomination for her portrayal of Katherine Hepburn in Tea at Five. Fans trekking to Pasadena should also know that Ms. Mulgrew has won Saturn and Golden Satellite awards for her portrayal of Captain Kathryn Janeway in "Star Trek: Voyager." Ticket prices for A Day with Friends range from $75 to $200. The $200-level includes seating in the first three rows and a post-event cocktail reception with Ms. Eggar and Ms. Mulgrew.
