Certification Enhances Ability to Support Multi-National Needs of
International Clients
SALT LAKE CITY--(Business Wire)--
Orange Legal Technologies, a leading provider of one source
litigation, audit, and investigation support services for law firms
and corporations seeking insight on electronically stored information,
today announced its certification under the Safe Harbor Framework
between the United States Department of Commerce and the European
Commission with respect to personal data transfer from Europe to the
United States.

The European Commission's Directive on Data Protection was issued
in October of 1998, with the intent to prohibit the transfer of
personal data to non-European Union nations that do not meet the
European "adequacy" standard for privacy protection. Since the United
States and the European Union have differing approaches to the
protection of privacy for their citizens, the U.S. Department of
Commerce, in conjunction with the European Commission, contracted a
"Safe Harbor" framework to provide organizations with the information
and means to comply with the Directive so they can effectively
evaluate and join Safe Harbor.

Safe Harbor certification provides assurance to EU organizations
and agencies that Orange Legal Technologies not only understands the
"Safe Harbor Framework," but has also taken the recommended steps
required for implementing personal data privacy protections. Being
certified, in most instances, permits Orange Legal Technologies to
transfer data between the EU and the US without the need for prior
approval as this requirement is waived or automatically granted.

"Safe Harbor certification highlights the high level of security
and care that Orange Legal Technologies maintains to protect sensitive
and confidential data entrusted to us during the collection, analysis,
processing, review and production of electronically stored information
on behalf of our clients," said Bret Laughlin, Chief Executive Officer
of Orange Legal Technologies. "As we continue to expand our support
for our internationally-engaged clients, it is important that we are
able to meet their multi-national needs. This important certification
is one example of how we are expanding support to meet those needs."

Orange Legal Technologies' compliance with the Safe Harbor
framework is further detailed on the company Web site here. To view Orange Legal
Technologies' certification online and to learn more about the Safe
Harbor program, visit the U.S. Government's Export Portal at
