The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region:
WHAT: "Nonprofit 911: What`s Next?" an important regional discussion of the implications of the current economic realities on safety net and other nonprofit organizations in the Washington area. The event is an update of last year`s urgent "Nonprofit 911" town hall meeting attended by hundreds of nonprofit leaders, funders, business executives and government officials.
At this year`s event, speakers will:
* Examine the latest regional economic news
* Share best practices
* Release a report that provides a snapshot of how the economic downturn has affected nonprofit organizations along with strategies for succeeding during challenging times
WHO: "Nonprofit 911: What`s Next?" is sponsored by Eight Neighbors, a coalition that includes the Center for Nonprofit Advancement, The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, The Greater Washington Board of Trade, Leadership Greater Washington, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, The Nonprofit Roundtable of Greater Washington, United Way of the National Capital Area and Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers
In addition to Eight Neighbors, Dr. Alice Rivlin, Senior Fellow, Economic Studies and Director, Greater Washington Research, The Brookings Institution, will speak on "The Current Financial Environment: How We Got Here and Where We Are Headed." Washington Post columnist Robert McCartney will serve as moderator.
