First Baby Born at TriPoint Medical Center Receives Lake Erie College

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- New parents Kayla Larbig and
Ben Parsons of Windsor Township have a lot to celebrate. Their son Ayden--the
first baby born at Lake Health's new TriPoint Medical Center--will be able to
attend college for free thanks to a generous four-year, full-tuition
scholarship from Lake Erie College.

Ayden, who weighed in at 7 pounds and was 20 inches long, was born at 9:50
a.m. on October 21--the first day TriPoint Medical Center opened.

"Having a baby has been such an exciting experience in itself," said
first-time mother Kayla Larbig. "So we were extremely surprised and
overwhelmed when we found out that Ayden would be receiving a scholarship to
Lake Erie College. It's a wonderful gift, and we're very grateful."

Lake Health and Lake Erie College--both with a long and vibrant heritage in
Lake County--have forged a strong partnership over the years in support of
area education and health initiatives.

"To commemorate the opening of the TriPoint Medical Center and in evidence of
our long-term commitment to the community, we're pleased to offer this
academic scholarship to a new child born in Lake County," said Michael T.
Victor, president of Lake Erie College.

Each year, more than 1,950 babies enter the world at a Lake Health hospital.
With the grand opening of TriPoint Medical Center, and the start of an
exciting new chapter in Lake Health's history, it seemed fitting to celebrate
the first birth in a special way.

"Lake Erie College is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in our
area, and like Lake Health, is committed to the growth and vitality of Lake
County. We're so grateful to Lake Erie College for their generosity in
providing a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to Ayden, the first baby born
at TriPoint Medical Center," said Cynthia Moore-Hardy, FACHE, president and
CEO of Lake Health.

The Tim and Sandy Weaver Family Birthing Unit is designed specifically to
enhance the safety, comfort and convenience of moms, newborns and families.
The birthing unit features 14 private rooms built around the LDRP model,
meaning that moms stay in the same room through labor, delivery, recovery, and
post-partum.

The unit also includes The Hershey Foundation Family Lounge, two operating
rooms for Cesarean sections, three beds for pre-term testing, two private
ante-partum rooms, a Newborn Nursery, and a six-bed Level II Special Care
Nursery.

The Level II Special Care Nursery at TriPoint has six private rooms, each with
a sleeping area set up for one parent. Moms often stay at the hospital when
their baby needs special care, so the unit offers showers, the Hershey Family
Foundation lounge, and a special family center with a washer and dryer. Mini
nurses' stations between each pair of rooms in the Level II area allow nurses
to remain near the babies in their care.

Built from the ground up to enhance healing and wellness and improve patient
safety, TriPoint features the latest, life-saving technology and an
evidence-based patient- and family-centered environment. Principles of
evidence-based design--a concept that links the quality of the hospital
environment to patient outcomes--have been integrated throughout the facility.
From the elegant interior filled with natural light and private patient rooms
with views of natural greenery and streams to the healing gardens and
dedicated family areas, everything about TriPoint is designed to increase
comfort and safety and speed healing.
