Log Off and Live: San Francisco TV Host Doug McConnell Explores ''Life Outside The Box'' on OpenRoad.TV - The Traveler's Video Guide to the American West

New Video Blog Series Showcases Revealing Conversations with
Prominent Digital Media and Technology Experts about Travel, Adventure
                       and Life Outside of Work
SAUSALITO, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
Doug McConnell, longtime host of "Nissan's Bay Area Backroads" on
KRON-TV, and host of OpenRoad.TV with Doug McConnell -- The Traveler's
Video Guide to the American West (www.openroad.tv), and OpenRoad.TV
co-founder Carl Bidleman have recently launched a new video blog
series called "Life Outside the Box"

In the ongoing feature, McConnell meets up with successful people
in the world of digital media and technology and invites them to talk
about their favorite places and activities when they finally get a
break from the computer. The series will soon expand to include
interviews with interesting leaders from a variety of backgrounds.

Most recently, McConnell and Bidleman posted a "Life Outside the
Box" interview with Om Malik,
(http://openroad.tv/blog/2008/02/03/life-outside-the-box-8-om-malik/),
highly respected journalist and founder of Giga Omni Media, publisher
of a number of Web sites that chronicle the worlds of technology and
new media.

A week after the December interview, Malik suffered a heart
attack. Once Malik had regained some of his strength, McConnell went
back for another visit to update the story. The new interview presents
a candid conversation with Malik, who's evolved from a cigar-loving,
restaurant connoisseur and workaholic to a man who's now discovered
the benefits of a more peaceful lifestyle, and has even regained his
sense of smell once he gave up smoking.

Previous "Life Outside the Box" profiles include conversations
with David Pescovitz, editor of Boing Boing, "a directory of wonderful
things"; Rhett Butler, publisher of environmental science and action
Web site mongabay.com; David Allen Ibsen, author of "5 Blogs Before
Lunch," a branding and marketing blog; Mindy Roberts, author of "The
Mommy Blog"; Natalie Zee Drieu, senior editor of craftzine.com; Guy
Kawasaki, Silicon Valley entrepreneur and author; and Brad Day of
"Weekend Sherpa," an e-mail newsletter on outdoor pursuits in Northern
California.

Coming up are chats with John Battelle, entrepreneur, journalist
and founder/chairman/CEO of Federated Media Publishing; Scott Beale,
founder of Laughing Squid, covering art, culture and technology from
San Francisco and beyond; Alder Yarrow of Vinography: a wine blog
about wine and food adventures in San Francisco and around the world;
and Merlin Mann, founding editor of 43folders.com, a family of Web
sites about personal productivity.
