Future Rock Stars Converge at Stump's in Channelside
TAMPA, Fla., March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Stump's Supper Club, at Channelside
in Tampa, announced today that it will host the first-ever, local Rock Star
Karaoke Event called "Rockstar Fridays". The mic opens up starting at 10:00
p.m. tonight and continues every Friday. This exciting, new Karaoke concept
offers a twist on traditional Karaoke in that amateurs are able to jump up on
stage and sing with a live band. No bouncing ball here, each contestant will
be able to sing lead vocals backed up by Jimmy James and the Velvet Explosion,
with over 250 songs to choose from. All contestants will be filmed and might
get put up on YouTube or Stump's Myspace page so all your friends can see how
well (or not) you performed.
With all the TV reality shows such as America Idol, Making the Band, etc.
Rockstar Karaoke is a relatively new phenomenon that has been sweeping the
nation in major cities such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York City, and
Chicago. The event will be co-sponsored by Cowhead and 102.5 The Bone and
Budweiser.
Guy Revelle, a co-owner of Stump's Supper Club, is excited to bring the
phenomenally successful amateur singing format to the Tampa Bay area. "This is
the hottest new concept around," Mr. Revelle commented, "I see this as a
mainstay at Stumps for a long time. Local singers leading a live band feeling
like a true rock star. This is it."
Stump's Supper Club opened in Channelside in 2001 and has become a
favorite venue for Tampa's live music scene. Attracting talent as diverse from
Eagle Eye Cherry to Better Than Ezra to Chad Brock and The Tams, Stump's also
offers great southern cooking, a full bar, and the wackiest decor of any
restaurant around.
