Melissa Etheridge has been a singer songwriter since her early childhood days.
At only eight years old, Etheridge received her first guitar, developing her
early interest in rock music that has come to reflect a heavy blues influence.
Etheridge became a singing sensation in the 90's with her unique vocal style.
Her now infamous vocal style, described as a blend of Rod Stewart and Janis
Joplin, this multi-Grammy award winning songstress was also awarded an Oscar
for her song, "I Need to Wake Up." A rare talent, Etheridge has released nine
albums, each filled with songs reflective of her thoughts, feelings and
experience.
