SHRM Hires Strategic HR Professional to Serve as Managing Director of Its
India Office

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Society for Human
Resource Management (SHRM) has appointed G. "Ravi" Ravindran as managing
director of the society's India office, Strategic Human Resource Management
India Private Limited (SHRMI). The society is the leading voice of the human
resource profession, representing the interests of more than 245,000
professional and student members from around the world. 

"We look forward to Ravi's strategic insight and operational leadership as we
expand our commitment to the India market and the HR profession there," said
Brian J. Glade, SPHR, GPHR, who is SHRM's vice president of international
programs.  

"Building on the solid foundation established by his predecessor, Nina
Woodard, SPHR, GPHR, he will help us deliver on new opportunities for growth
and impact within the HR community. We are excited to have him leading our
India team."
 
Ravindran will be responsible for managing and expanding all activities and
business operations of SHRMI, including its relationships with clients,
business partners and employees. He will also serve on the group's board of
directors. 

A key challenge is establishing partnerships with educational institutions,
government and policy makers, and creating a brand identity for SHRMI as the
premier association for HR professionals in India.

In addition to independent consulting work, Ravindran has held chief HR
positions and had other executive responsibilities with some of the largest
organizations in India, including Bharti Televentures, Ernst & Young, PepsiCo
Foods, Lipton Unilever, and Blue Dart Express. Most recently, he was senior
vice president and head of global HR for Covansys Inc.

Ravindran holds an M.A. from the Tata Institute for Social Sciences (TISS),
one of the top HR educational institutions in India. He also holds a B.S. in
education from the University of Mysore.
