HOUSTON--(Business Wire)--BMC Software (NYSE:BMC) announced today that David Lavanty has
joined the company as vice president of Consulting Services. Lavanty
came to BMC from Oracle Corporation, where he served as group vice
president for North America consulting.

BMC's rapidly expanding business unit assists customers in
understanding, planning, and achieving the process changes that are
required to fully realize and extend the value of Business Service
Management (BSM).

At Oracle, Lavanty headed several key business units, including
the technology, public sector, higher education, and healthcare
practices. Lavanty also was responsible for planning and executing
strategic initiatives that accelerated Oracle's mid-market and
consulting partners programs. He brings more than 22 years of
experience in IT consulting services, operations, marketing, and
delivery for both the public and commercial sector.

Prior to his tenure at Oracle, Lavanty also spent time in a
variety of senior leadership positions at companies including Sybase,
Inventa Technologies, and Siebel Systems.

"BMC's leading product position in the BSM market, coupled with
its stellar reputation and leadership team, represents a very unique
and compelling opportunity in the enterprise software industry," said
Lavanty. "BMC possesses a strong foundation that will support and
enable us to build a world-class services and solutions delivery
organization - one that will empower BMC's customers and partners to
realize the full benefits of BSM."

"We are delighted to have David join our senior leadership team
and look forward to implementing the vision he has for BMC's
Consulting Services," said Cosmo Santullo, BMC's senior vice president
of worldwide sales and services. "At BMC, we do more than provide
software - we are committed to providing customers with the
experience, methodology, and expertise that will help them change
business processes and ensure a meaningful return on their
investment."

Lavanty conducted his undergraduate studies at the University of
Akron, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Technical
Education. He later attended Marymount University and received a MBA
with an emphasis in Information Systems.
