Richard Klingler Rejoins Sidley Austin LLP
WASHINGTON--(Business Wire)--Sidley Austin LLP announced today that Richard Klingler has rejoined the firm's Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the complex commercial litigation practice. Klingler left the firm in 2005 to serve in the Office of the Counsel to the President, concluding his service as Senior Associate Counsel to the President. From 2006 to 2007, he served as the National Security Council's General Counsel and Legal Adviser. He also has extensive litigation and regulatory experience working on behalf of telecommunications, finance and media clients. "Richard's commitment to public service is admirable, and we are pleased to see him rejoin Sidley at this point in his career," explained Carter Phillips, head of Sidley's appellate practice and managing partner of the firm's Washington, D.C. office. "Richard's prior firm experience and the wealth of knowledge of international litigation will make him an even more valuable member of our litigation practice." "I am excited to be returning to Sidley," said Klingler. "My time spent with the U.S. government was extremely rewarding, and I am happy to be focusing on my litigation practice here, adding to the firm's national security capabilities and working with old colleagues and friends." Klingler holds a law degree from Stanford University, where he was Senior Articles Editor for the Stanford Law Review, and a B.A. from Oxford University, which he attended as a Rhodes Scholar. Mr. Klingler clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and Kenneth Starr of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
