California's Office of Systems Integration wins Digital Government Achievement Award

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
The Center for Digital Government announced today that
California's Office of Systems Integration (OSI) has won the Digital
Government Achievement Award for its management of large IT projects.
OSI won the government-to-government category in the national
competition.

   "Since its establishment in 2005, OSI has developed into a world
class project management office and vital resource for the State of
California," said Kim Belshe, Health and Human Services Agency
Secretary. "The work of OSI touches the lives of nearly every
Californian by supporting the efficient delivery of health and human
services statewide."

   "This award recognizes California's ability to meet and overcome
the challenges inherent in large information technology projects,"
said Teri Takai, State Chief Information Officer. "I would like to
congratulate Secretary Kim Belshe, Director Carlos Ramos and all of
the leadership at OSI for their strong commitment to managing large
projects and serving as a model for all state agencies."

   The Digital Government Achievement Award is a national program
that recognizes outstanding agency and department Web sites and
applications that enhance information interactions, transactions
and/or services. The categories are government-to-government,
government-to-business, government-to-citizen, and government
internal.

   The Office of Systems Integration, under the Health and Human
Services Agency, procures, manages, and delivers large and complex IT
projects that support the delivery of health and human services to
California. With a portfolio worth $5.5 billion, the Office of Systems
Integration large project management office stewards large IT projects
in a consistent and professional manner; exhibiting best practices in
project management methodology. Some examples of OSI projects include:

   --  Electronic Benefit Transfer Contract Extension and Price
        Reduction

   --  Unemployment Insurance Modernization Project

   --  Case Management Information and Payroll System II

   --  Child Welfare System/Case Management System Re-host

   --  Interim State Automated Welfare System
