ARLINGTON, Va.--(Business Wire)--
On the day of what would be freedom fighter Rosa Parks's 95th
birthday, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul released the
following statement:

"On February 4, Americans nationwide will reflect on the legacy of
Rosa Parks and wonder if they too would be so brave as to take a stand
for freedom. Teachers will tell their students of the power of a woman
who refused to bend to an unjust law, and parents will tell their
children to never give into evil--but what more can we learn from this
remarkable woman, who is one of my greatest heroes?

"By challenging the injustice of segregation and refusing to give
up her seat, Rosa Parks became an icon for a generation--but we must
remember that the love of liberty is no passing fad, as we continue
the struggle for freedom today. Rosa Parks's heroism is a testament to
the power of freedom, and we must carry her spirit to the present day.

"Will we too refuse to comply with injustice? Will we take a stand
against unconstitutional and heinous government actions that threaten
our rights today, such as the Patriot Act and Real ID?

"The future of free society depends upon the strength of the
people to rise against injustice. We should remember that when Rosa
Parks refused to stand on that bus, she stood for principle--and let
us all have the courage to stand with her today."

Ten-term Texas Congressman and Republican presidential candidate
Ron Paul is the leading advocate for freedom in our nation's capital.
