IIJ Adds Ultra Firewall Option to IIJ SMF sx Service
--New option provides automated firewall configuration and simple
administration--
TOKYO--(Business Wire)--Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) (NASDAQ:IIJI) (TSE1:3774),
one of Japan's leading Internet access and comprehensive network
solutions providers, today announced the immediate release of the
Ultra Firewall Option, which provides simple firewall configuration
from the management system of the IIJ SMF sx Service(1), IIJ's
proprietary network service management solution.
This new option provides the following features:
-- Automated firewall configuration
With the IIJ SMF sx Service, the IIJ SEIL routers are configured
automatically when they are plugged into the network. When used in
tandem with the Ultra Firewall Option, the firewall settings can also
be configured automatically. By putting both features in a single SEIL
unit reduces the user's configuration, administration, and maintenance
overhead, while making it easier to raise the level of security.
-- Simple firewall configuration screen
The firewall features are easily configured from the Web-based
user interface. From this interface, the user can freely configure the
firewall filters and other basic settings, as well as the application
gateway feature that links with other security services, and the
threshold monitoring and notification(2), anomaly detection and
notification(3), and other advanced features, which enables users to
adjust security levels to meet their needs. In addition, the schedule
feature can be used to make policy changes and implement new features
at preset times.
-- Management report feature
Through the Web-based user interface, users can access log
analysis reports and monthly reports. This feature can be used to
check on the firewall status on a daily basis. Hit counts and data
transfer volumes can be displayed graphically, and the user has access
to the raw log data (unprocessed access log information), providing
comprehensive centralized administration of firewall features without
the need for specialized tools.
IIJ has regularly added administrative options to the IIJ SMF sx
Service, such as the Winny filter and other security enhancement
features and the Ultra Sendback Service. The addition of the Ultra
Firewall Option further enhances the security features of this
service, and gives administrators centralized control of the many IIJ
SMF sx Service features. The application gateway feature of the Ultra
Firewall Option can be used in combination with various ASP services
such as content filtering, anti-spam and virus checking to create a
unified threat management (UTM) service.
IIJ is committed to improving IIJ SMF sx Service features and to
meeting our customer's diverse needs.
