Sundance Channel Signs Up Isabella Rossellini For 5 More 'Green Porno' Shorts
First 3 Shorts to Premiere at 2008 Sundance Film Festival
NEW YORK, Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Sundance Channel has commissioned
Isabella Rossellini to create five additional short films for her series
titled "Green Porno." There will be a total of eight films in the series.
Sundance Channel had initially funded three earlier pieces which have recently
been selected to premiere at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. A selection of
Rossellini's "Green Porno" shorts will also debut at the 2008 Berlin
international Film Festival.

Sundance Channel plans to premiere these shorts on mobile devices and
online in spring 2008. Once they make their digital debut the "Green Porno"
shorts will air as interstitial pieces on Sundance Channel.
"Green Porno" is a series of short films conceived, written by and
featuring Rossellini about the sex life of insects and various creatures.
The first three pieces are directed by Rossellini; the five new ones are
directed by Rossellini and Jody Shapiro (producer The Saddest Music in the
World and My Dad is 100 Years Old). They are produced by Rossellini, Shapiro
and Rick Gilbert in association with Sundance Channel. Maximum Films
International will sell all rights outside of the United States.
Laura Michalchyshyn, Executive Vice President, Programming and Creative
Affairs, Sundance Channel said, "Isabella's playful and humorous approach to
this material makes these films extremely inventive, a lot of fun and very
artful. This is perfect 'green' short-form content for Sundance Channel to
spread across multiple platform offerings."
Meant to be shown individually or as a series, the "Green Porno" films are
a comical, but insightful study of the curious ways certain creatures "make
love." The inventive costumes and colorful sets contribute to the playfulness
of the films. Their graphic look was specifically conceived for smaller
screens such as cellular phones, computers, and various mobile devices. The
insects and others featured in the first three films are Firefly, Dragon Fly,
Spider, and in the next five are Bee, Praying Mantis, Worm, Snail, and Fly.
"'Green Porno' is a wonderful combination of naughty and nice," commented
Charlotte Mickie, Managing Director, Maximum Films International. "These films
are utterly original; and simultaneously a little absurd and quite sublime
which make them so engaging, and, indeed, important."
