CPU Tech Delivers 1000th Turret Drive Controller to the Bradley Combat System
PLEASANTON, Calif.--(Business Wire)-- CPU Technology, Inc. (CPU Tech), a leader in secure processing solutions and compatible electronics modernization, announced today the delivery of the 1000th Turret Drive Control Unit II (TDCU II) system to be installed on BAE Systems` Bradley Combat System. CPU Tech is a leading provider of critical electronics technology to BAE Systems including the Position Interface Box (PIB) and the TDCU II. Approximately one half of the systems delivered have been card sets through Curtiss Wright and the other half are full Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) systems to BAE. The TDCU II is a mission critical LRU on the Bradley M2A3 / M3A3 Combat System. The TDCU II controls the positioning of the Bradley`s turret traverse, gun and Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire-guided (TOW) weapon drive assemblies, providing the capability of physically pointing any of the weapons mounted on the turret, regardless of dynamic disturbances while maneuvering over rough terrain. The TDCU II receives inputs from the Turret Processor Unit (TPU) and directly from the commander or gunner controls over the MIL-STD-1553 bus. "The TDCU II was a very challenging modernization effort. It runs the original, legacy software on both of its system processors and eliminates obsolescence issues while increasing reliability, performance and diagnostics. We are very pleased to see that our TDCU II has improved the quality of the Bradley and provided production engineers with unique visibility into the vehicle operations during factory test and integration," said Brad Dyer, Vice President of Operations at CPU Tech. "We strive to enhance our relationships through service, support and delivery."
