NEW YORK--(Business Wire)--The head of the U.S. Department of Energy's $1.5 billion "Solar
America" initiative is leaving the Department to join a newly launched
clean energy private equity firm, Hudson Clean Energy Partners, based
in Teaneck, New Jersey.

Craig Cornelius, a solar energy specialist in charge of the
Department's Solar Energy Technologies Program, has been a prime
architect of DOE solar technology funding for more than 100
corporations across the United States. He led DOE's due diligence on
278 photovoltaic companies and 26 solar thermal companies.

Cornelius joins Hudson Clean Energy Partners as a Principal in
January.

"At DOE, Craig provided exceptional leadership and vision for the
U.S. solar industry," said Rhone Resch, President of the Solar Energy
Industries Association. "At a pivotal time for the industry, Craig
proved to be the right leader at the right time. In the Solar America
Initiative, he created effective programs that are now propelling the
development of new products and business processes at companies
throughout the solar value chain."

Tom Werner, CEO of SunPower Corporation, said, "Craig and his team
have focused government investment on accelerating the industry's
evolution into business models that can scale and deliver competitive
prices. We'll miss having Craig as a partner and advocate within the
government, but look forward to his contributions to solar in his new
role."

According to Hudson's founder and managing partner, Neil Auerbach,
"Craig had his pick of private sector opportunities, and we're
delighted he chose Hudson."

Auerbach was the founder and head of the Alternative Energy
Investments group at Goldman Sachs. Joseph Slamm and Daniel Gross,
Hudson's two other founding partners, worked with Auerbach at Goldman.

"Craig Cornelius is a star addition to a team of all-stars.
Craig's exposure to solar policies, technologies, companies and deals
at DOE provides a strong foundation for his jump into the investment
sector," said Michael Rogol, solar sector researcher and consultant.

Hudson Clean Energy Partners is a private equity firm that invests
in the dynamic and fast-growing clean energy market. Hudson will
invest in companies focused on renewable power, alternative fuels,
energy storage and demand-side energy management. Hudson's investment
strategy focuses on high-growth, asset-based, capital-intensive
segments of the clean energy value chain using commercialized
technologies to extract energy from wind, solar, geothermal, biomass
and other renewable sources.
