Rebuilding Together Portland, Sears and Kmart to Improve the Lives of Military Families at Home

  PORTLAND, OR, Apr 24 (MARKET WIRE) -- 
 On Saturday, April 26, volunteers from Portland Sears and Kmart stores will
help renovate the home of Lawrence "Ray" Clark, a local Veteran who served in
the
Marines during the Vietnam War. The project is part of Heroes at Home, a joint
effort of Rebuilding Together and Sears Holdings Corporation.  Heroes at Home
seeks
to improve the lives of military families in need across America by making
necessaryrepairs, improvements or modifications to their homes.

    Ray is one of the 70 veterans whose homes will be renovated by Heroes at
Home on Saturday in celebration of National Rebuilding Day, and one of
hundreds who will benefit from the program with the nearly $4 million raised by
Sears and Kmart customers last year.

    Heroes at Home volunteers will replace the front door of the Clark's home
with
a new and secure door and will paint the exterior. New flooring, wiring, repairs
to
damaged stairs and railings will also be provided.

    "We are extremely excited and proud to team with Sears and Kmart to assist
military families in our community," stated Mike Malone, Executive
Directorof Rebuilding Together Portland.

    Clark now lives at home with his wife, Dina, and their two children.  He
works part time and coaches his two daughters' softball team.  Dina
devotesher time to volunteering for the Red Cross, school functions, and she
helped
to build a playground for the local elementary school.
