LAS VEGAS--(Business Wire)--3DV Systems has announced today that it has been selected by the
editors at CNET (www.cnet.com) as a finalist in this year's "Best of
CES" awards for its low cost, real-time depth sensing camera,
ZCam(TM), in the Emerging Technology category. Winners will be
announced on Wednesday, January 9 at 2:00 p.m. live on the CNET Stage
in the South Hall upper lobby, second floor.
The Best of CES Awards, which are produced and judged by CNET,
recognize the hottest products at 2008 International Consumer
Electronics Show in ten categories, plus a Best in Show and People's
Voice award selected by the CNET online audience. CNET editors
received and reviewed thousands of entries.
3DV's new camera has the potential to radically change
human-machine interfaces with its fine gesture recognition capability,
in industries such as computing, consumer electronics, video games,
automotive and robotics. The company's focus for the launch of ZCam
will be the fast growing PC and video game industry. ZCam is the first
camera of its kind that offers unparalleled total immersion in the
interactive experience. As gamers become the interface, the game
design will determine how the inputs work: motion can be navigated
simply with a thumb or the entire body can become the controller
through three-dimensional movement. The player can be represented in
the game with his/her own real-time image and the game can be operated
either bare-handed or with a designated object, replacing the need for
a control pad.
"We are proud to be among the CNET emerging technology finalists,"
Zvika Klier, CEO, 3DV Systems, said. "We believe that we are on the
frontier of changing the human-machine interface."
As a finalist for a Best of CES Award, ZCam is also eligible to
win a People's Voice Award. People at home actively following CNET's
in-depth CES 2008 coverage - from videos to editorial reports from the
show floor - can participate by voting for their favorite product at
www.cnet.com/best-of-ces. Voting is open to the public from
Tuesday, January 8th and closes at noon Pacific Time on Wednesday,
January 9th.
The ten categories include digital photo and video; car tech and
GPS; cell phones and smart phones; computers and hardware; emerging
technologies; gaming; home audio; home video; MP3 and portable video
players; and televisions. A video of the winners and finalists
showcasing their technologies can be found at www.cnet.com/ces.
To see 3DV's ZCam in action during CES January 8-10, stop by
Sands, Booth 71246.
