OTTAWA, ONTARIO, Apr 30 (MARKET WIRE) --
Canada Post is pleased to be named the Most Iconic Brand in Canada.

In an independent survey by Brand Finance Canada, Canada Post placed
ahead of other well-known and respected companies. The survey, contained
in the "Canada's Most Valuable Brands 2009" report issued today by Brand
Finance Canada, is based on consumer research into those brands that "are
seen by Canadians to represent a special part of Canadian culture."

"We are honoured by this incredible distinction," said Moya Greene,
President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Post. "It shows that
Canadians-our customers-see us as an essential and defining part of our
country's character. For generations, Canada Post has had a personal
relationship with all Canadians. This relationship is founded on the
trust they have in Canada Post and our continuing commitment to offer
affordable, universal and on-time delivery across the country, safely and
securely. On behalf of all of our employees. I wish to extend a personal
thank you to every single Canadian."

"Canada Post topped an impressive list of contenders to be recognized as
the top iconic brand in Canada," said Andrew Zimakas, Managing Director,
Brand Finance Canada. "Our belief is that this speaks to Canada Post's
heritage and ubiquity, both in the Canadian marketplace and the daily
lives of consumers. While Canada Post trades on this heritage, it
continues to innovate by providing new service offerings that have
relevance to the people's needs. Canada Post's seasonal campaigns provide
it with outstanding visibility during times that tend to matter most to
Canadians. It has also ramped up its sponsorship and corporate social
responsibility initiatives in recent years, driving not only awareness
but also a deeper linkage to communities across the country."

"An iconic status ascribed to a brand is typically earned by a unique
positioning in the national marketplace, and the consistent delivery of a
brand promise that has deep, patriotic resonance with its various
stakeholders," said David Kincaid, President and CEO, LEVEL5 Strategic
Brand Advisors. "As a result, an iconic brand can not only help shape
and/or identify a country, but is so emotionally driven that its
constituents identify themselves through their association with it and
reward it with their loyalty."

"This recognition is a strong indicator that Canada Post is working
successfully to meet its promise to all rural and urban Canadians to
deliver quality, dependable and timely service, no matter where they
live," said The Honourable Rob Merrifield, Minister of State (Transport).
