Canary Hotel Microsite Launches Today With Cool Interactive Collage Art Tool and Santa Barbara Getaway Contest

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(Business Wire)--The soon to be 'hatched' Canary Hotel launched its preopening
microsite today, with a virtual collage art tool and a contest for a
getaway at Santa Barbara's fun, fashionable hotel opening in January
2008. A fresh addition to the vibrant Downtown Santa Barbara scene,
Canary Hotel will be the next great destination inspired by Edward
Thomas Collection (ETC), developers of Santa Monica's famous hotels,
Hotel Casa del Mar and Shutters on the Beach.

Canary Hotel's preopening microsite, www.canarysantabarbara.com,
is an interactive art tool that invites the user to create an animated
collage to send to friends or enter to win a weekend getaway. The
design of the art tool was inspired by Spain's Joan Miro, the hotel's
Spanish Isle interior design, and the rich Santa Barbara landscape.
Users can create a collage or get a sneak peek at what will no doubt
be THE place to stay in Santa Barbara.

"This virtual collage tool on our micro site is a glimpse at the
unique and fun destination we are crafting at 31 W. Carrillo St.,"

Hotels. "The Canary guest is someone who craves thoughtful service,
great design, fabulous food and unique experiences that will tie them
to their environment. We are creating a vibrant hotel that will
connect people to each other and to art, fashion, and the community
around them."

The Canary Hotel will open in Downtown Santa Barbara, steps from
State Street's shopping scene and the center of the city in January
2008. The 97 guest rooms and suites are designed in a style that can
best be described as laid-back California luxe, with a Spanish and
Moroccan twist. Coast Restaurant and Bar on the hotel's main level,
with its accessible coastal cuisine will be a great gathering spot for
guests and locals alike. Add to that a ballroom and spacious meeting
rooms coupled and staff with a motto of "We CAN at Canary," and Canary
Hotel will be the perfect spot to work, play and nest in Santa
Barbara.

The Edward Thomas Collection of Hotels

The Edward Thomas Collection of Hotels was founded in 1982 by
third-generation hotel and real estate investors Edward and Thomas
Slatkin, whose family previously owned the legendary Beverly Hills
Hotel. In 1994, Beverly Hills-based ETC opened exclusive Shutters on
the Beach in Santa Monica. In 1999, after a $50+ million renovation,
ETC opened a hotel with a history as Santa Monica's "Grande Dame,"
Hotel Casa Del Mar. Both members of The Leading Hotels of the World,
the adjacent, sister and luxury properties are the only hotels in the
Los Angeles area located right on the sand. Additionally, ETC acquired
Hotel Andalucia in 2007 and has completely transformed it to open as
Canary Hotel in January 2008.
