District Applauds Governor & California Legislature for Addressing Ailing Water
System
LAKEWOOD, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
The Water Replenishment District of Southern California salutes Governor
Schwarzenegger and the California Legislature in passing today`s historic water
package that will increase water reliability and ensure water quality.

California faces unprecedented and complex water challenges. The Governor and
state legislature have proven to be committed to solving California`s water
problems. WRD believes that the overall solution for the California water crisis
needs to include adequate funding resources to develop new local water supplies
which will reduce pressure on the Bay Delta. This bond provides those funding
resources.

WRD recognizes the need for statewide collaboration and planning in finding a
long-term solution to California`s water challenges. WRD applauds Governor
Schwarzenegger and the California Legislature in approving a momentous water
package that is both fair and balanced for all stakeholders statewide and
provides the resources necessary to develop new local water supplies.

"The Water Replenishment District has the ability to develop new supplies
through recycled water and the augmentation of storm water capture to provide
complete local sustainability for the groundwater basins in southern Los Angeles
County. This water bond will help WRD achieve that goal," stated WRD Board
President Albert Robles.

WRD manages two of the most heavily used groundwater basins in the state of
California and plays a significant role in providing groundwater to southern Los
Angeles County. WRD is a regional groundwater management agency that supplies
groundwater for 10% of the State`s population.
