A new study provides evidence that ImmunoLin®, an all natural and GRAS approved
source of immunoglobulin, will provide immediate benefit to the function of the
immune system and the gut. Immunoglobulins, or antibodies, are specialized
proteins found in blood that the immune system naturally produces for immunity.
These critical molecules play a major role in clearing harmful bacteria, viruses
and toxins from the body, in both circulation and at the first line of defense
in the gastrointestinal tract, called the gut barrier. Excess immune activation
is dubbed the "fire" that drives many health problems such as bowel disease,
heart disease, loss of lean body mass and even adverse reactions from viral
infections. New research is indicating dietary supplementation of immunoglobulin
concentrates may be the best way to reduce the level of inflammation in the
body.

In a recent study at the University of Barcelona, led by Prof. Miquel Moretó,
researchers took up the challenge of exploring the biological effects of dietary
supplementation of immunoglobulin concentrates. Immunoglobulin supplementation
is in wide use in animal health and nutrition and the researcher is necessary to
provide the scientific explanation for efficacy. The team first developed a
novel model of mild inflammation using very low levels of a potent toxin
produced by a common bacterial cause of food poisoning, Staphylococcus aureus.
After proving the model was consistent, the team designed a series of
experiments to assess the effects of immunoglobulin concentrates and plasma
protein fractions on intestinal inflammation, gut barrier function, and nutrient
absorption.

"In our studies, immunoglobulin concentrates and plasma proteins significantly
reduced the impact of the SEB toxin in inducing mucosal inflammation and gut
permeability which were mediated by a reduction in inflammatory cytokines,"
according to lead researcher Anna Perez-Bosque, PhD. Group leader Prof. Moretó
adds, "While our research will continue, these studies provide an explanation of
the benefits reported in food animal species and the mode of action of plasma
proteins and immunoglobulin concentrates when given orally." Eric Weaver, Chief
Scientific Officer for Proliant adds, "We appreciate the research efforts of
this group. This research contributes significantly to understanding the role of
specialized proteins in the GI tract and changing the way health professionals
view proteins." The publication of these studies in the Journal of Nutrition
after scientific peer-review speaks to the quality of the research.

ImmunoLin® is an immunoglobulin concentrate intended for use in dietary
supplements and medical nutritionals. "The studies are important because all of
us can relate to attacks from food, air, contact and water in the world today.
ImmunoLin is the premiere ingredient that can genuinely provide rapid support to
the immune system," states Steve Welch, CEO.
