SANTA CRUZ, Calif., May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
announced that rides and attractions at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk are
open for normal operation throughout the Memorial Day weekend. Major highways
into Santa Cruz are open. On Friday, visitors to the historic seaside
amusement park enjoyed the start of the Memorial Day Weekend.
According to Ed Kendig, a spokesman for the Monterey Bay Air Quality
District, "Onshore winds are blowing smoke from the Summit Fire to the east
and northeast, away from the coast. Current weather conditions are expected to
prevail throughout the weekend, keeping smoke away from coastal Santa Cruz
through Sunday."
The Summit Fire is located in a mountainous region to the southeast of the
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
