Elite E-Manufacturers Unite Taiwan, Thailand & India at Taitronics Bangkok 2008
BANGKOK, Thailand--(Business Wire)-- Once again TAITRONICS Taipei, one of the most historical electronics professional shows in Taiwan, has successfully outreached overseas. The third TAITRONICS BANGKOK opened amidst a gracious and elegant traditional Thai greeting dance at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center on July 10th. This show, being reputed as one of the most professional B2B information and communication shows in Southeast Asia, has the participation of 110 manufacturers from Taiwan, Thailand, and India, who are using 220 booths. On the first day of the show, there were already around 1,200 buyers visiting and purchasing at display. Representative Thai media such as English newspaper The Nation, Thai financial and commercial professional daily news Krungtep Turakij, TV station Channel 5, cable TV Channel 1, and TNN, also came to cover the show. Such a media turnout underscored the success of this overseas event. Director Mr. Moses Yen of TAITRA (the Taiwan External Trade Development Council), the organizer, indicated during the opening ceremony that bilateral trade volume last year (2007) between Taiwan and Thailand was US$8.67 billion, an 11.71% growth compared to the previous year, a growth that has continued over the past six years. Advanced electronics and information industries of Taiwan have made crucial progress. Mr. Roy Y.Y. Wu, representative from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand and Mr. Cheng-Yung Hsu, Vice Minister of the Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission were invited to speak at the opening ceremony. Coordinator Roy Y.Y. Wu said that Thailand is Taiwan's largest trade partner in Southeast Asia and close economic and trade exchange between the two countries, which encompass the electronic and automobile industries, have been established since 1990, when Taiwan started to promote the southbound policy. Vice Minister Cheng-Yung Hsu pointed out that current investment in Thailand from Taiwan, which has reached US$12.13 billion, has made Taiwan the third largest investing country in Thailand, second only to Japan and the United States and that investment enthusiasm is still growing. Dr. Sakarindr Bhumiratana, President of the National Science and Technology Development Agency of Thailand who also spoke at the opening ceremony on behalf of the Thailand government, underscored the importance of this show to local government. Representatives from the Thai-Taiwan Business Association, Delta Electronics, Mr. Visit Limlurcha, Treasurer of the Federation of Thai Industries, and honorable guests from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, Thai Chamber of Commerce, Thai Association of Electrical and Electronics Industries (TEEI), and Telecom Equipment Manufacturers Association of India (TEMA) were all invited to join the ritual to cut the opening ribbon. Manufacturers have all been upbeat on TAITRONICS BANGKOK. Besides Acer, Tatung, Good Will, UMEC, and Taiwan Oasis, enterprises from Taiwan that are participating in the show on a grand scale, and TEEI and TEMA all sent delegations to take part in the show. The "Taiwan Excellence Pavilion" was especially planned for this year's show to offer a focus spotlight on those innovative products from Taiwan that have won major industrial design awards around the world. Being showcased were such items as Eee PC and the M536 intelligent business mobile phone from Asus, Glee Cube IP TV and heat sink pads for notebook computers from Gigabyte. More than a hundred enterprises displayed over a thousand electronic products, a factor that added depth and value to this show. TAITRONICS BANGKOK 2008 is organized by TAITRA (the Taiwan External Trade Development Council) in the name of the Taipei World Trade Center and the Taiwan Electrical, the Electronic Manufacturers'Association (TEEMA), and the Thai-Taiwan Business Association and runs for four days from July 10th to July 13th at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center.
