WHAT: Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 1 on the day and night before Fred
Jordan Mission's 20th Annual Back-to-School Giveaway, Foot Locker
associates will sort 5,000 pairs of shoes.
Vons employees will be decorating Los Angeles' largest cupcake cake
celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Back to School Giveaway
that has helped over 100,000 impoverished kids. The cake is made
up of 5,000 individual cupcakes enough to feed everyone and
measures 10 feet by 12 feet and is 3 feet high.
Tomorrow during the day and night on Wednesday, Oct 1 will be great
visuals of Mission staff, Foot Locker Associates and volunteers
preparing for the event. Great opportunities for live feeds, photo
opps and interviews. Mission staff and volunteers will be
preparing to provide new shoes, clothes and school supplies for
thousands of inner-city impoverished children.
Hundreds of underprivileged children will be camped out with
sleeping bags and lined up outside the Mission in anticipation of
the Mission's Back-to-School Giveaway on Thursday, October 2,
showing the need of impoverished children in our community.
Children and their families have been in line since Tuesday, Sep.
30, 2008. Interviews with impoverished youth and their families and
representatives of the Mission will be available throughout
tomorrow morning, afternoon and evening.

Tues, Sep. 30 in anticipation of the Back-to-School Giveaway

cupcake cake to celebrate the Back-to-School Giveaway's 20th
Anniversary

WHO: The Fred Jordan Mission, open 365 days a year since 1944, provides
nutritious meals for hungry families and after-school education for
at-risk children; builds schools and hospitals and distributes food
and clothing to people living on the street. Foot Locker, the
world's largest athletic specialty retailer, will donate athletic
shoes and socks to outfit thousands of children.
