Demonstrations being presented at Interconnect 2009 include the following:
Enterprise and contact center demonstrations
Enterprise SIP trunking with Avaya Aura™
Acme Packet and Avaya combine to show SIP trunking applications between
enterprises and service providers as well as between enterprise locations. Acme
Packet`s Net-Net SBC ensures security and maximum service reach while assuring
SLAs and regulatory compliance in the delivery of unified communications from
Avaya`s Aura System platform.
Managed enterprise SBC services
Acme Packet will demonstrate the fault, configuration, accounting, performance
and security (FCAPS) and related management capabilities of Net-Net OS delivered
in the context of a managed enterprise SBC service. Acme Packet's managed
enterprise SBC solution extends the SIP trunking service demarcation point all
the way to the enterprise premise as part of a SIP trunking service.
Secure teleworker access to SIP voice and unified communications
The Acme Packet Net-Net SBC integrated with Avaya Aura will enable Avaya SIP
endpoints using SIP/TLS and SRTP to establish, maintain and terminate sessions
securely via the Internet to enterprise telephony and UC infrastructure. Acme
Packet SBCs control the Internet border point for enterprises or contact
centers, delivering all necessary security, service reach and SLA assurance
functions to cost-effectively implement secure, high-quality IP-based telephony
and UC solutions for remote employees.
Hosted enterprise E9-1-1 emergency services
The demonstration depicts an emergency call, routed through the Net-Net SBC and
delivered to Red Sky`s E9-1-1 network services solution deployed at a simulated
public service access point (PSAP). The SBC adds denial of service/distributed
denial of service (DoS/DDoS) protection and layer-5 topology hiding at the
hosted services border, as well as backup for standard E9-1-1 routing by
providing an alternate route to the PSAP when the primary route becomes
unavailable.
Interactive SIP trunking return-on-investment (ROI) kiosk
Acme Packet has designed a Return on Investment (ROI) tool that illustrates the
cost savings potential of moving to SIP trunking. With this tool, enterprises
will understand specifically how SIP trunking reduces access, local and long
distance charges and consolidates over-provisioned trunks into a more
cost-effective "resource pool" for voice and data services.
Wireline demonstrations
Hosted Microsoft OCS and BroadSoft unified communications
Acme Packet SBCs enable unified communications (UC) based on BroadSoft`s
BroadWorks business telephony VoIP application platform integrated with
Microsoft`s Office Communications Server 2007 R2. Presence information is
available on any device at any time - PC client, mobile handset or IP desk
phone. Calls can be initiated via remote call control from contact lists or any
Microsoft application such as Word or Excel where a contacts name appears.
BroadWorks also integrates with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 to offer small and
medium-sized businesses an enterprise-class customer relationship management
(CRM) solution, which enables users to view customer contact information
immediately based on the caller ID or other call parameters. The Net-Net SBC
controls SIP signaling to provide interoperability and security at the network
border between the service provider`s BroadWorks application server platform and
the enterprise IP phones.
Metaswitch FMC integration for hosted services
The Metaswitch CommPortal Mobile™ application enables remote IP desktop phone
control from an iPhone. The Metaswitch CommPortal™ server located in the service
provider data center functionally integrates the IP desktop phone and iPhone.
The Metaswitch PhoneRemote™
application allows the subscriber to click on an iPhone contact name entry
to trigger call initiation from the desktop IP phone, leveraging the address
book of the iPhone. Acme Packet`s SBC secures the network border between the
enterprise and service provider data center, normalizes SIP signaling and
enables interworking between H.323 and SIP endpoints.
Session routing for "find me, follow me" services
In this technology demonstration, Acme Packet`s Net-Net SBC and NetNumber`s
TITAN platform, a private ENUM database solution, provide routing for a basic
"find me/follow me" service across SIP wireline and mobile phones. The Net-Net
SBC functions as SIP registrar for the SIP endpoints and updates the ENUM
database with endpoint location information via dynamic DNS. Net-Net SBCs query
the ENUM database to retrieve routes to multiple subscriber endpoints as well as
current subscriber preferences.
Wireless and fixed mobile convergence (FMC) demonstrations
Streaming video control
Acme Packet`s Net-Net SBC controls the delivery of Real-Time Streaming Protocol
(RTSP)-based video over broadband access networks. The SBC functions as a RTSP
proxy, providing signaling and bandwidth-based admission control and VLAN
tagging to assure quality of service and compliance with SLAs. It also controls
video stream admission into the access network by querying an external policy
server and assigns appropriate QoS marking for the stream`s packets. To ensure
that the service is delivered securely and reliably, the SBC provides access
controls and topology hiding to protect the video server infrastructure.
CDMA and UMTS SIP femtocell access
Acme Packet`s Net-Net Security Gateway (SG) and Net-Net Session Director (SD)
connect SIP-based femtocells to an IMS/NGN data center. CDMA AirWalk EdgePoint
and UMTS Ubiquisys ZoneGate femtocells convert legacy signaling and media to SIP
and RTP for transport over broadband Internet access connections. The Net-Net SG
provides the femtocell security gateway function for securely tunneling voice
and data traffic across the Internet using IPsec. The Net-Net SBC provides SIP
session control, including denial-of-service protection, admission control and
protocol normalization. For the AirWalk CDMA demonstration, Acme Packet`s SBC
also routes sessions to Tatara Systems` Tatara Convergence Server (TCS) which
provides voice, messaging and supplementary services as well as active session
handover to the macro TDM-based cellular network
Rich Communications Suite video and content sharing services
Acme Packet and Aylus Networks will showcase the power of Rich Communications
Suite (RCS) video and content sharing. Acme Packet`s Net-Net SBC, deployed at
the border between the 3G access network and the SIP/IMS network, protects the
server infrastructure, maximizes reach and assures quality of experience for RCS
services. Aylus Networks` MediaShare Application Server and Media Switch provide
real-time multimedia sharing to Aylus and third party RCS clients on 3G handsets
as well as to web portals and social media hubs.
Core session routing and interconnect demonstrations
GSMA IPX routing with SLA and billing management
Acme Packet`s Net-Net SR session routing proxy (SRP) leverages the GSM
Association`s PathFinder Service, operated by Neustar, to route SIP sessions
over service provider interconnect borders via the GSM Alliance`s IP eXchange
(IPX). The Net-Net SR queries the PathFinder database using the
industry-standard ENUM protocol to obtain least cost routing information and
forwards the session appropriately. Nexus Telecom`s NexusMETER provides
performance management and SLA reporting while NexusMEDIATION provides network
and billing mediation solutions.
Calling party name service delivery
The Net-Net Session Router (SR) provides calling party name services by querying
a remote NetNumber Titan ENUM server--which performs a CNAM lookup against a
back end database. The Net-Net SR populates the FROM header in the SIP INVITE
message with the CNAM information. This information is then displayed as the
caller ID on the receiving phone. The demonstration also includes NexOSS from
TransNexus for CDR mediation, call analysis and reporting.
IP peering for high definition video conferencing services
Acme Packet, BroadSoft and IP communications service providers Alteva and
SimpleSignal combine to enable high-definition telepresence-enabled
videoconferencing over an IP interconnect between the two service providers. In
the solution, Acme Packet SBCs resolve signaling and media disparities between
the video endpoints supported by each service provider.
Platform demonstrations
Net-Net 4500 multiservice security gateway capacity and performance
Acme Packet will demonstrate the performance and capacity of the industry's
highest density multiservice security gateway. Using Spirent`s Landslide test
platform with dynamic IPsec option, Acme Packet`s Net-Net 4500 SG will rapidly
set up and tear down IPsec tunnels, scaling up to 200,000 simultaneous tunnels.
Net-Net 9200 session border controller performance
Acme Packet`s Net-Net 9200 SBC will be tested with a Navtel/EXFO QA-604 SIP load
generator to demonstrate SIP signaling performance that is up to 4 times higher
than previous versions of the same system. The Net-Net 9200 offers the
industry`s highest levels of performance and capacity in a 7U chassis-based
platform.
Simple SIP trunking configuration using Net-Net OS templates
Acme Packet will demonstrate how service providers can use a "SIP trunking"
configuration template to add numerous SIP trunks quickly and easily. Net-Net OS
configuration templates simplify the configuration of Acme Packet SBCs, reducing
configuration errors and increasing the rate of provisioning customers and
services. Common service profiles are created as templates, incorporating both
default and customized configuration settings. A template can then be spawned
into numerous individual "instances" to develop complete service profiles.
