LANSING, Mich., May 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Perhaps you didn't see
the story Taxpayers United Michigan Foundation put on the PR Newswire
regarding Federal District Judge Nancy Edmonds in Detroit issuing an Opinion &
Order on March 26 declaring Michigan's Early Presidential Primary Election on
January 15, 2008 to be irrevocably "unconstitutional".
Judge Edmonds permanently threw out Michigan's Primary by ruling grassroot
citizens have a constitutional right to secrecy of the ballot and equal
protection of the laws. State legislators wrote the law to be non-severable --
if one part is judged unconstitutional, the entire Public Act 52 of 2007 is
invalid, null and void.
Bill McMaster, State Chairman (Volunteer), Taxpayers United Michigan
Foundation, fought to defend not only those two provisions in the US and
Michigan Constitutions, but also the elementary prerequisite that every voter
had to be a citizen of the United States in order to vote in Michigan's
Presidential Primary.
McMaster objected to illegal immigrants, foreign students and teachers,
and migrant workers with picture driver's licenses being encouraged by both
Democrat and Republican Party leadership in Michigan to vote on January 15,
2008. He submitted Amicus Curiae Briefs in five state courts last fall,
including the Michigan Supreme Court, and testified in defense of
constitutional grassroot citizen voting rights during the February 4, 2008
public meeting in the State Capitol when the Board of State Canvassers voted
3-0 to "Certify" Michigan's Presidential Primary safeguarded election laws
guaranteeing the "purity of elections." (Judge Edmonds called that "almost
laughable" in her March 26 statement from the bench.)
Only 21% of Michigan's 7.2 million voters risked loss of secrecy in the
voting booth by actually voting either the Democrat or Republican ballot on
January 15. Since voters had to declare allegiance to either the Democrat or
Republican Party in order to vote, and since 51% of Michiganians are
Independents, and thousands more will vote on November 4, 2008 for candidates
in five "qualified minor parties", there isn't any doubt Democrat and
Republican Party Committees corrupted the Michigan Presidential Primary by
disenfranchising the vast majority of citizens from participating in the
selection process for the next President of the United States.
The Michigan Democrat and Republican Party Central Committees are now free
to join each of the "minor parties" by immediately scheduling Michigan
Presidential Caucuses in compliance with their national political party
headquarters in Washington DC. Delegates from Michigan's 15 Congressional
Districts can be selected by caucus to attend national presidential party
conventions this summer the same way as successfully accomplished in previous
four-year cycles.
