IIJ and EMOBILE Agree to Start MVNO Service
TOKYO, Feb. 6, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Internet Initiative Japan Inc. (IIJ) and
EMOBILE Ltd. today announced that the two companies have reached an agreement
for EMOBILE to wholesale telecommunications services to IIJ for use in providing
virtual network operator (MVNO) services starting at the beginning of March
2008.
To meet the need of corporate customers for secure, low-cost, high-speed mobile
communications, IIJ has added IIJ Mobile Access Service Type E to the IIJ Mobile
menu, providing 3G/HSDPA communications service nationwide with speeds up to 7.2
Mbps via the EMOBILE service. Customers of the IIJ Mobile Access service can now
choose between Type E and Type D (using the NTT DoCoMo FOMA high-speed network).
IIJ Mobile combines EMOBILE high-speed communications with optional security
features to prevent information leaks, viruses, and other threats, thus
providing the fastest secure mobile data communications service in the country.
In addition to using high-speed mobile communications to connect to the
corporate WAN, IIJ is also planning to offer connectivity to closed networks
that bypass the Internet, providing a one-stop service for advanced corporate
network construction and operation.
IIJ and EMOBILE will continue to expand into the corporate market to provide
high value-added mobile data communications services as only an MVNO can.
IIJ Mobile Access Service Type E Highlights
* High-speed mobile environment
3G/HSDPA(1) communications service provides a nationwide mobile
environment with speeds up to 7.2 Mbps.
* Economical Fee Plans
Flat rate, unlimited use plan, providing high cost-performance.
* Secure mobile communications environment for corporate use
This service provides the stable, secure access network that
business demands, with terminal authentication for corporate
network access, restricted remote IP address access, and VPN
connectivity. The customer can control access to the Internet
without using special lines or equipment. (Optional)
(1) HSDPA: An abbreviation for high-speed downlink packet access.
This technology dramatically improves downlink speeds to meet
customer demands for higher packet communications speeds, and it
was standardized by the 3GPP as an advanced W-CDMA. Using this
scheme, downlink speeds of up to 14 Mbps are possible.
