Albemarle Corrects News Stories About Chemical Release in Pasadena, Texas Plant

Release Occurred at Another Company's Facility

PASADENA, Texas, April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Albemarle Corporation would like
to correct certain erroneous initial news stories reported by multiple
Houston-area news outlets that a chemical release took place today at
Albemarle's facility located at 2500 N. South Street, Pasadena, Texas. The
event occurred at an adjoining facility and did not involve Albemarle
Corporation, its employees or its contractors.

    The incident in question took place just before 5:00 PM CDT at the
Pasadena, Texas facility of MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc., 3000 N. South
Street.  Further information about the incident should be obtained by
contacting MEMC.
    Again, the incident in question did NOT take place at Albemarle's plant,
and NO Albemarle employees or contract workers or others on Albemarle's site
were affected by the incident.
