Blues Rock Legends ZZ Top to Perform Special Pre-race Concert at California
Speedway's Auto Club 500

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Legendary blues rock trio ZZ Top will
perform a special concert on Sunday, February 24, during the pre-race
festivities at California Speedway's 2008 Auto Club 500, Speedway President
Gillian Zucker announced today. The concert will be free to all those in
attendance for the 2008 West Coast Premiere of NASCAR. Fans who have pit
passes for the race will be able to view the concert from the best seats in
the house, on the track itself.
"From a performance by rock legends ZZ Top to the Southern California
debut of the Car of Tomorrow, the 2008 Auto Club 500 is quickly shaping up to
be our best race ever," said Zucker. "Fans are going to be in for one
incredible weekend."
One of the most recognizable bands in American music thanks to their
signature beards and dark sunglasses, Billy F Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank
Beard formed ZZ Top in 1969 and have maintained their original lineup for more
than four decades. The trio has toured throughout the world, and was inducted
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
Known to their legions of fans as "That Little Ol' Band From Texas," ZZ
Top has sold more than 60 million records, and boast six singles that reached
No. 1 on Billboard's rock chart. The band's third album, 1973's "Tres
Hombres", features the single "La Grange," which is highlighted by one of
rock's most signature riffs. That album kicked off a streak of 11 consecutive
albums that have gone gold or platinum, including 1983's "Eliminator" which
has sold more than 10 million copies and features hits like "Legs", "Gimme All
Your Lovin'" and "Sharp Dressed Man".
