"Berkeley is very pleased to have these three distinguished alumni contribute
to CITRIS. What makes their success as business leaders all the more
remarkable is that when they met here at Berkeley in the early 1980s, Weili
was a recent immigrant from Shanghai, China and Sehat and Pantas had come here
as foreign students from Jakarta Indonesia," said Paul K. Wright, UC Berkeley
Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Director of CITRIS & the Banatao
Institute@CITRIS Berkeley. "Today the Sutardja and Dai families have created a
world class organization based on a spirit of innovation. Now, their
contribution to Sutardja Dai Hall will help create information technology
solutions for many of our most pressing social, environmental and health care
concerns."

"Our family is very honored to be able to make a difference in our communities
and we are especially pleased to be able to do so in conjunction with our alma
mater, Berkeley," said Weili Dai, one of the founders of Marvell
Semiconductor. "We hope that our support for CITRIS will drive new innovations
and encourage new solutions to the world's most pressing challenges."

The U.C. Berkeley campus will host a press briefing on Friday, February 27,
2009 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., at the Banatao Auditorium, Sutardja Dai Hall, at
the northeast corner of the campus to introduce news media to CITRIS.
Reporters will hear why CITRIS and world-class university research are
critical to the economic future of the state and country. There will be
demonstrations of innovative research projects that promise to transform the
way energy is consumed and how healthcare is delivered.

CITRIS combines the skills and talents of more than 300 researchers from four
U.C. campuses: Berkeley, Davis, Merced and Santa Cruz and with help from the
private industry to develop and quickly move to the market innovative
technology that tackle some of society's most pressing problems.
