Statewide Organizations Show Support for Job Creation and Energy Security
Kansas Building & Construction Trades Council Acknowledges Expanded Job
Opportunities across Kansas
The Alliance for Sound Energy Policy, including representatives of Kansas'
largest labor organizations and electric cooperatives, will host a press
conference to highlight the importance of energy legislation before the Kansas
House of Representatives. House Substitute for SB 327 includes provisions to
help meet our state's growing energy demands, to maintain our state's
affordable electricity rates, to promote economic development and job
creation, and to protect the environment. A similar bill was overwhelmingly
approved by the Kansas State Senate last week.
The Building & Construction Trades Council of Central and Western Kansas,
a member of the Alliance for Sound Energy Policy, will also acknowledge its
support for the proposed Holcomb Station expansion, which will provide needed
job opportunities throughout Kansas. The $3.6 billion Holcomb Station
expansion will create over 2,000 jobs during the six-year construction period
and over 200 permanent jobs, including 100 at the power plant.
