Noel Irwin Hentschel Kicks-off Olivia Newton-John's 'Great Walk to Beijing 2008'
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(Business Wire)-- AmericanTours International's CEO Noel Irwin Hentschel announced Thursday(3) she will hold a "Friendship Kick-off" celebration for Olivia Newton-John's "Great Walk to Beijing 2008" on Sunday, April 6 at Noel's Beijing residence. The event will launch the team effort of international celebrities and cancer survivors led by entertainer and UN Goodwill Ambassador Olivia Newton-John on their 21-day million-step walk on the Great Wall of China to help fight cancer. "Olivia's vision to unite the world in this common cause by choosing to walk the Great Wall of China, one of the world's most inspiring tourism destinations, will showcase the endurance and teamwork it takes to beat cancer," Hentschel stated. The VIP guest list of supporters for this cause includes high-ranking Chinese government officials, US and Australian diplomats, Olympians, international business leaders and celebrities from the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom. Co-sponsors of the "Friendship Kick-off" are AmericanTours International, East West Bank, Air China and the St. Louis Rams Football Club, whose late owner Georgia Frontiere, a victim of breast cancer, herself, recently passed away. A Rams' football, autographed by the team's players, will be passed to Olivia who will carry the ball to the Great Wall of China's end zone. Sharing a passion for women's health and development and a burning mutual desire to find a cancer cure, entrepreneurs Noel and Olivia have been friends for nearly two decades. They began working together when Noel established The Noel Foundation in 1989 with the goal of building strong international relationships for commerce, trade/tourism and other humanitarian efforts. Noel commented: "As Olivia and all the participants face the arduous challenge of hiking along mountain trails through expected dust storms in the Gobi Desert leading into the historical city of Beijing, they will be an inspiration to cancer patients around the world." Olivia Newton-John, perhaps best known for her starring role opposite John Travolta in Paramount Pictures' classic hit film "Grease," said she is looking forward to the arduous trek even though she realizes it will be difficult and confronting. "Like life, I fully expect there'll be many ups and downs and unforeseen challenges," she said, "but I'll feel good about it because it will remind me of my own wellness journey and getting beyond cancer. And each step my team and I take will bring us closer to realizing the very important goal of our cancer and wellness center that we know will save lives for many." In addition to being CEO/Chair of America's largest inbound/outbound tourism and marketing organization, AmericanTours International (ATI), Noel Irwin Hentschel is also travel advisor to the U.S. Dept. of Commerce. ATI generates $3 billion into the U.S. economy annually. Based in Los Angeles, ATI has 12 regional offices including branches in New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, Florida, Hawaii and Beijing.
