WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!! Check out the 2008 TaiSPO ALL STARS -- Inno-Stage of Excellence
TAIPEI, Taiwan--(Business Wire)-- With a tenacity and quicksilver flexibility, Taiwan manufacturers have bounced with the punches in response to heated competitive international trading. They've re-thought, re-made, and re-packed themselves with optimized strategies for pricing, design and quality. Yes, some manufacturers have set up factories abroad that are more suited to the making of mass-produced items, but most have kept their roots in Taiwan, particularly in the areas of R&D. At home they've consolidate their edge in R&D, design and quality for better profit, while distinguishing their products from the cheap, mass-produced stuff coming out of China. Meanwhile, increasing numbers of Taiwan makers are thinking about developing their own brands for a better future. That's where TaiSPO 2008 comes in! This event, otherwise known as the Taipei Int'l Sporting Goods Show, highlights the dedicated spirit of Taiwan innovative manufacturers. Their best innovations and R&D harvests are highlighted at this year's TaiSPO ALL STARS - Inno-Stage of Excellence that comes in tandem with the Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association Award (TSMA AWARD) for the selection of innovative new products. A showcase area at TaiSPO to display the winners, with the awards presented to the best "ALL STARS" during the opening ceremony on March 13. The event is sponsored by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and held by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and TSMA. There are four categories in the award, namely Fitness Equipment, Ball Sports Products, Outdoor Recreation and Water Sports Goods, and General Sporting Goods. Award entries are judged from the five aspects of R&D innovation, design, quality, market performance, and environmental friendliness. In terms of R&D innovation, the focus is on whether the manufacturer has the technology and capacity for innovative R&D in the use of new materials and creation of new functions and purposes, whether intellectual property right is valued, and what percentage of its total revenue the manufacturer has invested in R&D over the past three years. The design category focuses upon product features, design concepts, fissionability, creative style, color dynamics, and the extent by which ergonomics is worked into the creation. Other factors include quality, ISO certification, standardized operation, production and operation management, quality control, and product safety. Meanwhile market performance is determined by the manufacturer's marketing tactics, the product's market share and whether it matches actual market demands. And last but not least are the awards for environmental friendliness which are determined by whether manufacturers are environmentally aware and health conscious and whose production process leaves minimal impact on the environment. In all, 11 manufacturers had products nominated for TaiSPO ALL STARS, including Build Ray Enterprise, Joy Ride Tech. Co., Ltd., and TBS Group Corp. in the General Sporting Goods category; Well Home Health Productions Co., Johnson Health Tech. Co., Ideal Bike Corp., Magtonic Co., Ltd., Alexandave Industries Co., Ltd., Armleader Technology Co., Ltd., and Ucheer Health Tech. Co., Ltd. in the Fitness Equipment category; and Homax Int'l Dev-Tec Co., Ltd. in the Outdoor Recreation and Water Sports Goods category. Of the 11, Johnson Health Tech. and Magtonic each had two products selected, to let 13 products in all enter the final nomination list for awards. Winners of the Fitness Equipment category are Johnson Health Tech's 3D cross trainer, Ideal Bike's 3G outdoor stepper, and Magtonic's whole body vibration exercise machine; TBS Group's 90" air hockey table and Joy Ride Tech's electric surfboard won in the General Sporting Goods category, and Homax's 3D multipurpose air-cushion goggles was given the award in the Outdoor Recreation and Water Sports Goods category. With continued effort of Taiwan manufacturers and their added value in innovation and technology, the nation's sporting goods industry has shaken off the shadow of doom hanging over other traditional industries to transform itself and bring forth brighter prospects. The products nominated in the award this year strongly reveal the innovative R&D capabilities and high ambition of Taiwanese sporting goods manufacturers. The impressive originality that incorporates IT intelligence and its concern for the environment builds confidence in international buyers and a greater trust in Taiwan sporting goods.
