PALO ALTO, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
HP (NYSE:HPQ) today announced three specifically tailored, easy-to-manage
education solutions that make it easier to teach with technology while reducing
overall costs.

* HP MultiSeat allows multiple students to simultaneously share a single host
computer, enabling schools to increase student access to technology at a reduced
cost.
* HP TeachNow enables even nontechnical teachers to easily teach with technology
in the classroom.
* HP SchoolCloud lets students and teachers access their applications and data
at school, home or anywhere they have Internet access.

"HP is helping educational institutions change to student-centered, personalized
learning environments by using technology in an affordable and sustainable way,"
said Brian Becker, director, Education, Personal Systems Group, HP. "Our
offerings empower students to learn at their own pace, allow teachers to easily
manage a classroom and free up IT managers from time-consuming maintenance."

Low-cost expansion of computer seats

HP MultiSeat helps schools that have limited student access to technology create
a technology-rich computing experience for every student in a classroom, lab or
library.

HP MultiSeat t100 allows a single host computer to be shared by up to 10
students, so schools can maximize the number of computer seats without
increasing their technology budgets. Students use their personal monitor,
keyboard and mouse connected via MultiSeat to the host computer to access their
own independent and familiar Windows 7 computing experience.

The HP MultiSeat t100 consumes only 2.5 watts of power, reducing energy costs by
up to 80 percent.

MultiSeat also reduces the amount of time IT spends on client management,
maintenance and upgrades. Setting up MultiSeat does not require opening the PC
or installing expansion cards. With a simple USB connection, teachers can
connect multiple users to a single PC. MultiSeat - slightly larger than a deck
of cards and with no external power supply - can be conveniently mounted and
locked onto the back of a computer display.

MultiSeat is fully licensed and uses Microsoft`s new Windows MultiPoint Server
2010 product to enable schools to access technology with lower ongoing
operations costs per student and create a familiar Windows customer experience.

Making it easier to teach with technology

HP TeachNow eliminates the need to be a computer expert to teach with
technology. The software is intuitive to use, allowing even nontechnical
teachers to easily build and distribute lesson plans and manage a classroom.
And, with the click of a mouse, teachers can fix many computer problems without
losing focus or time on the task at hand.

With TeachNow software, teachers can quickly create lesson plans at home or
school -even in between classes - by simply dragging files, notes or a URL into
their lesson topic. Clicking "Start Class" then pushes the lesson content to the
students` computers and they can immediately start working on projects. As
students leave the classroom, teachers can press "End Class" to reboot all the
computers and within minutes they are ready for the next period.

Teachers also can share digital lesson plans across schools or even districts.
All the materials for a lesson on biology or history could be prepackaged and
passed from a veteran to a first-year teacher.

The HP TeachNow solution includes a classroom or computer lab of technology with
a server that does all the processing work and thin clients that students use to
access school curriculum. Schools do not need a data center and the solution is
as easy to set up as a typical PC.

Instructional desktop follows students throughout the school

HP SchoolCloud is a private cloud computing offering that allows students and
teachers to have 24/7 access to their applications and data through a virtual
desktop. By moving applications and data onto servers, IT can manage several
servers instead of hundreds or thousands of PCs, saving time and resources.

Hudson Falls Central School District in New York is already taking advantage of
HP SchoolCloud. "We went from managing 1,400 computers to 10 servers," said Greg
Partch, director, Information Technology, Hudson Falls Central School District.
"We`re seeing a huge savings in help desk support, maintenance time and costs."

Students and teachers simply log in to access their personalized SchoolCloud
page at school, home or anywhere they have Internet access. Saved projects,
documents and applications are all accessible from the student`s home page,
allowing them to extend classroom learning at home. For example, students using
Adobe PhotoShop at school can practice with the application at home, speeding up
the learning process.

Through real-time reports with HP SchoolCloud, teachers and administrators know
which software and computers are being used. This data can be combined with
student grades and attendance to correlate technology usage and learning
outcomes.

The HP SchoolCloud solution includes a combination of infrastructure, software
and professional development tools designed specifically for education. The
instructor-led, onsite professional development course included in the
SchoolCloud package enhances teachers` skills to effectively teach with the new
technology.
