UFCW Local 99 Negotiations Advisory Committee Meets to Plan Strike Against
Fry's and/or Safeway

Phoenix, Ariz. (Nov. 10) - UFCW Local 99 leaders and staff will meet with the
union's Negotiations Advisory Committee to prepare for a potential strike
against Fry's and/or Safeway.

If a settlement with the employers is not reached this week, a labor action
could begin as early as Friday evening, Nov. 13.

Also attending Wednesday's meeting at the Airport Marriott will be leaders of
the UFCW International Union, presidents of UFCW local unions from across
North America, and representatives of Local 99's union allies in the Food &
Drug Council.

At the meeting, the union will train picket captains, assemble picket signs
and make other preparations for a historic showdown with the supermarket
employers.

A convoy of trucks driven from various regions of the country by members of
the International Brotherhood of Teamsters will be in the parking lot as a
demonstration of union solidarity.
