TAIPEI, Taiwan--(Business Wire)--
The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), in order to encourage organizations
from public and private sectors to comply with acts of energy conservation, the
"2009 MOEA Energy Conservation Award Ceremony" was held at 1:30pm on October
29th in Taipei.

Vice Minister of MOEA, Mr. Jung-Chiou, Hwang said, "In order to encourage
organizations from public and private sectors to work towards energy
conservation and to encourage energy education in schools, the MOEA has annually
held a competition for Energy Conservation Award since 1994. Since 1999, schools
have also joined in to compete for this award.

This year, a total of 73 organizations and 46 schools applied to compete, a
total of 16 organizations with excellent work in energy conservation and 10
schools with excellent work in energy education were chosen to be awarded.

The Bureau of Energy states that this year has saved a total amount of
144,000KLOE of energy, an estimated savings of NTD1.66B in cost, which reduced
354,000 tons of carbon dioxide.

In conclusion, the Bureau of Energy stressed that, energy conservation is the
result of long-term work. It is believed that under the joined hands of the
government and other sectors, the implementation of energy conservation will

and move forward in sustainable development.
