SBA Administrator to Tour Southeastern Areas Affected by Tornadoes and Inspect
Agency Recovery Efforts
WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SBA Administrator Steve
Preston will tour areas in the southeastern U.S. damaged by tornadoes and
inspect the agency's disaster recovery operations on Monday, February 11,
2008. He will also meet with residents and federal, state and local officials
to ensure that impacted home and business owners receive timely, effective
assistance to rebuild.
As the federal government's leading post-disaster economic recovery
agency, SBA plays an important role helping affected communities get back on
their feet. The agency's Disaster Assistance program provides a wide range of
services:
-- Disaster loans to homeowners, businesses, and renters;
-- Standard SBA loans to small businesses;
-- Counseling and entrepreneurial development for small business owners;
-- Assistance to small businesses seeking federal contracting
opportunities.
