WINDSOR, ONTARIO, Jul 10 (MARKET WIRE) --
Locals 82 and 543 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) want
to thank the citizens of Windsor for participating in a fund raiser that
took place on Thursday, July 9th.

A dinner organized by Club Alouette of Windsor drew more than 500
community supporters, raising in excess of $7,500. The money will assist
striking workers.

Jean Fox, president of CUPE local 543, is grateful to the citizens of
Windsor: "We thank the community for their support and generosity," said
Fox. "Our gratitude also goes to the people of Club Alouette, who took
upon themselves to organize this activity and invite the community to
show their support."

Jim Wood, president of CUPE local 82, was also appreciative: "After three
months on strike, we really appreciate this show of solidarity from the
citizens", said Wood. "It means a lot to see the community believes in
our cause and went out of their way to help our members in need."

CUPE local 82, representing outside workers, have been on strike since
Wednesday, April 15th. Their colleagues of local 543, the inside workers,
joined the picket line on Saturday, April 18th.
