Freescale Offers 'Suite' Deal to Customers With New CodeWarrior(TM) Packaging
CodeWarrior Tool Suites Ease Migration Across Freescale
Architectures Delivering on the Promise of the Controller Continuum
AUSTIN, Texas--(Business Wire)--
Freescale Semiconductor will now package its award-winning
CodeWarrior(TM) tools into suites designed to make it easier for
customers to migrate across the Freescale product line, reduce their
development expense and increase flexibility in how they use their
CodeWarrior tools' licenses.
CodeWarrior tools will no longer be offered as stand-alone
products, but instead be bundled into four flavors containing various
CodeWarrior products supporting Freescale architectures. In support of
Freescale's Controller Continuum strategy, the industry's first
roadmap for compatible 8- and 32-bit architectures, the CodeWarrior
suites are engineered to deliver the ultimate in design flexibility
giving customers broader access to these development tools.
As an example, if a customer buys a license for the CodeWarrior
Professional Suite, one of the four packages being offered, it will
allow customers working on the HCS08 architecture to add the V2
ColdFire(R) architecture to their design without the added expense of
a new tool set. This one purchase gives customers the ability to
experience multiple architectures quickly and get the most out of
their software investment.
"The award-winning CodeWarrior tools have not changed; they have
been repackaged into suites that provide simplified, tiered offerings
to address customers' varying technology and budget needs across
multiple Freescale platforms," said Tim Tumilty, Freescale's director,
Developer Technologies Organization. "We are excited about helping our
customers leverage the power of Freescale's broad portfolio of
products. Our new CodeWarrior suites offer a simple migration path for
customers who design a wide range of products."
In addition to the newly packaged suites, Freescale is offering
perpetual and annual subscriptions. The perpetual pricing model
includes permanent use of a CodeWarrior suite, while the annual
subscription allows the use of the selected CodeWarrior suite for 12
months, substantially lowering the entry cost to develop with
Freescale's portfolio of products. Both pricing models include 12
months of technical support and maintenance with the option to add
additional support to the perpetual license after the first year.
Customers who have registered CodeWarrior development tools as of
May 1, 2006 will automatically be recorded into the new model
according to the product they registered. These customers can expect
to receive a notification e-mail and instructions about how to
manage/register additional products.
