MOG Welcomes Alex Brough as VP, Sales and Strategic Partnerships
MTV Alum to Spearhead All Revenue Generating Partnerships
BERKELEY, Calif., April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- MOG (http://mog.com), a network
of thousands of music blogs powered by industry-leading music discovery
technology, today welcomed Alex Brough as Vice President, Sales and Strategic
Partnerships.
Alex brings over 12 years experience in sales and online marketing to MOG.
Prior to joining MOG, Alex worked at MTV Networks since 1999. Most recently,
Alex ran West Coast sales operations for MTV's Digital platforms including
website, wireless, and virtual environments. At MTV, Alex consistently
over-delivered on all sales goals thanks to deals with industry leaders such
as Microsoft and T-Mobile. He was responsible for over $20 million in digital
revenue on the west coast for the MTV brand alone.
"I've known Alex since I hired him at SonicNet/Addicted to Noize in the
late nineties," said David Hyman, MOG founder and CEO. "Alex was our first
West Coast account executive and went on to cement landmark online advertising
deals with major brand marketers, including Levi's, Nike and Toyota Motors.
We're excited to see him work his magic at MOG."
During his tenure at MTV, Alex spearheaded the sales and content strategy
for movie studios and video games within MTV's digital properties. Working
with the digital and television teams responsible for each category's business
at MTV, Alex developed digital extensions and convergent promotional
opportunities across all of MTV's screens. This resulted in some of the first
"upfront" partnerships in the digital space for the movie studios and the
first non-endemic upfront deals for the gaming companies. Those who
participated included Sony's Columbia Tri-Star and Universal Pictures in the
movie side as well as Electronic Arts and Microsoft's Xbox in the gaming
category.
"Joining MOG and reuniting with David to harness the potential of the
burgeoning online music space is incredibly exciting," said Brough. "Music is
at the forefront of media change on the Internet, and I'm looking forward to
being a part of the revolution."
A graduate of University of Vermont School of Business with Honors, Alex
lives and works in Los Angeles, where he is a member of the LA Ad Club. Alex
also served as a board member of Audio Alley: San Francisco from 1999-2002.
