Indivijual Custom Eyewear Designs Eyeglass Frames for Each Individual Face
A new business in Texas has created another dimension to the concept of
"designer eyewear"; Indivijual Custom Eyewear designs and hand-crafts custom,
one-of-a-kind eyewear for both men and women
ABILENE, Texas, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- In the truest spirit of
entrepreneurism, a man from the West Texas city of Abilene has put together a
product with roots dating back to the advent of eyeglasses. Indivijual Custom
Eyewear believes that every face can be perfectly fitted with eyeglasses that
are flattering and functional.
"Our frames are something you can't buy off the shelf," says Randy Barnett,
the company's founder. "We conduct comprehensive information gathering that
creates a specific profile of each customer, and that profile drives our
custom design process. Our client's lifestyle, personality and tastes are key
factors. We analyze and measure our client's face, skin tone, hair color and
eyes."
Indivijual's designers will then recommend a style and color that fits that
particular client. They use high-end Italian plastics that are made from
organic materials, making eye frames that are both stylish and eco-friendly.
If customers want to submit their own design sketches, Indivijual will work
collaboratively to deliver an even more personal product.
The evolution of Indivijual Custom Eyewear began as a personal situation.
About 10 years ago, Barnett could not find the signature, classic, horn-rim
style eyeglasses he had been wearing for decades and was unwilling to part
with.
"That was the experience that got me thinking about making custom eyewear. Why
should the fashion whims of a bunch of people I don't know dictate what my
eyeglasses look like?" Barnett said.
Growing up in West Texas, Barnett was keenly aware of the famous custom
bootmakers in the region who create the best looking and best fitting cowboy
boots in the world. He left Abilene for college at Dartmouth, then worked for
several years in Manhattan, where he learned to appreciate the distinctive
craftsmanship of custom tailors and custom shoemakers.
After researching the eyewear industry, the hunt was on to find tools to craft
custom eyewear. Some old-style equipment could be redesigned, but mostly
Barnett and his team of engineers and designers had to invent, develop and
devise tools to get the job done.
"We take our cues from old-world, European-inspired craftsmanship," Barnett
said. "All frames are sculpted to order, based on each person's unique
attributes. I'm not aware of any other companies in the world that do what we
do to create truly custom eyewear."
Each pair of handcrafted frames costs around $600.00, lenses not included.
"You spend more on a business suit or an expensive pair of shoes and only wear
them a few times a month. This is something that you put on your face every
day," Barnett said. "Nothing else you wear is more a part of your look and
your persona than eyeglasses."
