Two $100,000 Wins Top this Week's Big Spin(R) Show
SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(Business Wire)--
Maria Esquivias from Long Beach and Tuako Washington from San
Pablo each won $100,000 on this week's California Lottery Big Spin
show. The show aired statewide Saturday, June 7, 2008. The grand total
won this week was $272,500!
Esquivias is a house cleaner who bought a single Big Spin
Scratchers(R) ticket that qualified her for a trip to the Big Spin
Wheel. She's married with four children and thinks she may take the
family to Mexico for a vacation or maybe make a down payment on a
house. Washington is a fork lift operator. He told one of the show's
hosts, Pat Finn, just thinking about the money "makes me nervous." He
called his experience "amazing" and felt "very grateful." Washington
later said he hopes to take his wife, daughter and son on a Hawaiian
vacation.
The third big winner of the day was Bill Green who traveled all
the way from Anchorage, Alaska to the show's taping in Los Angeles.
Green travels to California several times a year to visit his
college-aged children. Last time he made the trip he bought five
Fantasy 5 tickets and submitted the coupon players get for the
purchase. His coupon was selected and Green was invited to appear on
the show. Green, who works in the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay, stopped
after putting two balls in play in the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine and
netted $50,000.

More than 95 cents of every Lottery dollar is returned to the
community in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retail
commissions. The California Lottery contributes at least 34 cents of
every dollar that players spend on Lottery products to public
education and returns more than 50 percent of sales to players in the
form of prizes. Since its inception in 1985, the Lottery has
contributed more than $20 billion to California schools out of total
sales of nearly $55 billion. Retailers benefit too, earning $3.5
billion in compensation since 1985.
