Version 6.0 adds GeoTagging and support for XMP Metadata
DALLAS--(Business Wire)--
FotoTime, Inc., a leading provider of digital photo and video
solutions, introduces Version 6 of its FotoAlbum software. Major
enhancements to FotoAlbum 6 include GeoTagging, XMP, and an integrated
SQLite database. FotoAlbum builds on the success of FotoAlbum 5 by
allowing users to better annotate and search large photo and video
collections.

FotoAlbum integrates Google mapping into the tagging of photos.
Unlike other photo applications that simply allow for the entry of GPS
coordinates, FotoAlbum allows users to navigate online maps to both
enter and view photo locations. Mapping also includes a location
editor that allows users to search for and save common locations for
their photos so that new photos can be quickly mapped.

In addition to GeoTagging, FotoAlbum 6 adds support for the XMP
metadata format. Developed and used by Adobe in Photoshop, XMP is also
the native format used by Vista to store photo information and tags.
FotoTime's support for XMP insures that tags entered in FotoAlbum are
compatible with the widest range of applications, while still
supporting EXIF and IPTC for legacy applications.

FotoAlbum uses a SQL database to store metadata. The introduction
of SQLite not only integrates an industry standard database for the
storage of library information, but also improves FotoAlbum's
performance when cataloging very large image libraries, and allows
users to share their image libraries across computers on their home
network.

"We think that FotoAlbum 6 is the perfect tool for users wanting
to organize their growing photo and video library," said Jeff Kelling,
FotoTime co founder and Chief Technology Officer. "As hard drive sizes
continue to grow, and cameras commonly exceed 10 megapixels, we see
FotoAlbum's move to an integrated relational database not only
important for performance, but also key to assuring that user's data
is stored safely, and can easily be used by other applications."

FotoAlbum provides the power to manage a lifetime of images by
maintaining an easily searched database that includes albums,
keywords, captions, ratings, dates, GPS locations, and other
information stored in EXIF, IPTC, and XMP metadata. In addition to
FotoAlbum's organizational capabilities, FotoAlbum also includes photo
editing, batch processing, slideshows, print ordering and more.
FotoAlbum's synchronization technology replicates photos and videos to
portable devices as well as FotoTime's FotoShare service for sharing
images online.
