AM General wins $248 mln contract for Army trucks
WASHINGTON, Aug 12 (Reuters) - AM General LLC won a fixed-price contract worth $248 million to build more High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicles (Humvees) for the U.S. Army, the Pentagon said on Tuesday.
Work on the contract would be completed by the end of 2009, the Defense Department said in a daily digest of contracts.
The company won two separate contracts in May for Army Humvees, a $207 million contract for 1,578 of the vehicles, and a deal valued at $522 million for 3,216 Humvees.
Investor Ronald Perelman's holding company MacAndrews & Forbes Holdings Inc in 2004 acquired a large stake in AM General, maker of Humvee and Hummer vehicles. (Reporting by Andrea Shalal-Esa, editing by Leslie Gevirtz)
