Calyon could cut up to 1,200 jobs - La Tribune
PARIS, Sept 8 (Reuters) - French investment bank Calyon could announce up to 1,200 job cuts as part of a previously announced plan to slim down the business, French business newspaper La Tribune reported on Monday.
La Tribune did not disclose the source of its information. The newspaper said the job cuts would mainly be at Calyon's London and New York operations.
Officials at Calyon, which is the investment banking arm of French retail bank Credit Agricole (CAGR.PA), could not immediately be reached for comment.
Agricole is due to give an update on its business plan for Calyon on Wednesday.
In May, Agricole unveiled plans to restructure and slim down Calyon, following a series of losses at the unit due to the global credit crunch. Analysts said at the time that job cuts were likely at Calyon.
Agricole ousted former Calyon head Marc Litzler and replaced him with Patrick Valroff, formerly head of Agricole's consumer finance arm Sofinco. (Reporting by Sudip Kar-Gupta)
