STOCKHOLM, July 13 (Reuters) - Finnish insurer Sampo (SAMAS.HE) has raised its stake in Nordea (NDA.ST), the Nordic region's biggest bank by value, ownership records showed on Monday.

The SIS shareholder register showed Sampo with a holding of 18 percent of Nordea shares at the end of June. That compared with a holding of 16.8 percent at the end of May, according to the register.

The Finnish insurer has repeatedly said it would continue to raise its stake in Nordea but has also said it does not plan a takeover.

The Swedish state is the biggest shareholder in the bank, with a 19.8 percent stake. (Reporting by Stockholm newsroom; Editing by Greg Mahlich)
