(Adds details, background)
NAIROBI, Oct 14 (Reuters) - Kenya's industrial gas supplier BOC Gases (BOC.NR) said on Wednesday it had withdrawn its offer for Carbacid Investments (CARB.NR).
"Our offer has expired, and we will retain our money for other business," BOC Chairman John Kibe told reporters.
BOC Gases is a subsidiary of Germany's Linde (LING.DE). Carbacid is a Kenyan carbon dioxide manufacturer.
Both BOC and Carbacid have been suspended from the Nairobi Stock Exchange since 2005 after the regulatory Capital Markets Authority ruled against BOC's takeover bid.
BOC had wanted to acquire 10.6 million shares in Carbacid, which would have brought its shareholding to 94 percent.
Kenya's Centum Investment (ICDC.NR) said in May that it had acquired a 22.6 percent stake in Carbacid. [ID:nLJ208791] (Reporting by Helen Nyambura-Mwaura; Editing by Editing by Hans Peters)
