The Swedish savings bank foundations, Sparbanksstiftelserna, are demanding compensation from Folksam, Erste Bank (ERST.VI) and the Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK) related to the transfer of Swedbank shares earlier this year, Swedish business daily Dagens Industri reported at the weekend.
Folksam, Erste Bank and SEK took over Swedbank shares put up as collateral for a loan from the foundations in early March.
In the days following the announcement, but before shares were transferred, the Swedbank stock rose roughly 35 percent. The rise in the stock had not been reflected in the transfer of the shares, the foundations said.
"We have issued a demand to our lenders," Lorentz Andersson, chairman of the foundations management firm, was quoted as saying. "This concerns several hundred million crowns."
